Autumn tour, 15 days
An exceptional 15-day hike through MN, from east to west, from north to south. All beauties inclusive: 4 national parks, numerous diverse hikes in the mountains and on the coast, delicious food and various types of rakija! Two weeks are enough time to get to know country and if you are lucky with the weather like we were, than the word "perfect" describes best how it was with the group from Switzerland this autumn. Thanks to all particiapants. Special thanks to Gisela for these nice pictures.
Mountain bike Montenegro tour, 8 days
In mid-July I had the pleasure to join a group of German mountain bikers on their tour through my country. In 7 days we passed 400 km with more than 7000 m. of altitude, riding through and crossing over most beautiful landscapes of northern Montenegro, including a tour from Kolašin to Zabljak over the Sinjajevina mountain plateau. This was the highlight of our trip and simply is a "must do" for all mountaint bikers. This also applies to the single trail from the Sedlo pass down to Grabovica valley, with overnight at mountaineering village "Nevidio" in Posćenje, near Šavnik! We also had some time to relax that was used to raft down the Tara river and to make a boat trip in the Bay of Kotor. For me this was the first biking group, a experience. I must say it was tough, but it was great, it was fun because of the people in the group! Thank you guys!
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing isn't unknown activity here. In old times our grand, grand parents used it on their villages in heavy winters to get to the beefs and sheeps, to feed them easier or to visit friends in nearby villages. Snowshoes were made of wooden frame with rope net in between, looked like today tennis racket. Still in many villages you can find these tools, mainly hangs on the walls reminds their owners at the time that has passed.
Nowdays snowshoe hiking knocks on the door as tourist product. Montenegro is a great playground for this relaxing winter activity. Numerous unmarked trails, deep pine forest, large plateaus, deep valleys, hills and mountains, abandoned katuns in winter time and plenty of snowfall call you to walk in pristine nature leaving your traces in fresh snow! No matter are you interested on a daily tour or multiday tours over one of the large mountain plateaus will be my pleasure to guide you and organise tour for you.
In winter 2012, with group of frineds I was engaged by Ministry of tourism on a project development of trails for snowshoe walking. Around 500 km of trails was included in this project. Let me show you some of them!
Peaks of the Balkan - Prokletije
The last few years I have my spent holidays in my favorite mountains - Prokletije. This year was the same, but goal was different: we wanted to go where we haven't been yet. This is not difficult, even after more than 10 years of exploring this mountain region. On the first day we did Maja Rosit, the third peak of Montenegro. It is a long and demanding hike, but without major technical difficulties. The summit is between the Valbona and Ropojana valleys.
It does not make sense to tell you how it was, you must go and see it by yourself! We spent the next three days on a cross-border trekking trail between Montenegro and northern Albania: through Ropojana valley to Thethi National Park, then to Valbona valley and finally over Preslopit pass below the Kolata peaks back to Montenegro. Amazing, awesome, impressive...!!! The trail is part of 190 km. long cross-border hiking trail: "Peaks of the Balkan". It requires a good physical condition. In Albania it was very nice, people were friendly, food and accomodation were found in many guesthouses or campsites. Simple, but good and cheap. No shops in these valleys - you eat what they produce. The trails are guite well marked. Huge rocks are all around. No doubt we will come back. I wonder how it looks in winter. Thanks to Ana, my girlfriend- this was her idea:-)
Snow, mountains, sea & flowers
What else people can wish? This late spring I worked again with Hermann Tauber, profesional mountain guide from South Tyrol. He has been a mountain guide and guiding instructor for more than 30 years. Working with him and his groups is always a super experience for me. In this time of the year our mountains are green and full of plants and flowers. Monteverde! There are plenty of rare and endemic plant species. Many of them also medicinal. To those who are not familiar with plants I reccomend a visit to the botanical garden in Kolašin. Owner is the old botanist and mountaineer Mr. Danijel Vincek. He will be happy to offer you glass of rakija. Don´t hesitate! Thanks to all participants. I really enjoyed it and hope you will enjoy these pictures, to.
